Courage to Serve

Jamell has proudly served his community on Little Elm Town Council since December of 2021, following a historic, people-powered victory in a Special Election to fill the remainder of the unexpired Place 1 Town Council term through May of 2022.

Mr. Johnson is also a proud US Army officer, former member of the Little Elm Board of Adjustment, a loving father and husband, and a law student. In addition, Jamell is a graduate of the town's Citizens Government Academy, serves as Program Chair for the Zero Debt College Project's Male Mentor Program, and currently works as a corporate compliance manager for a major financial services firm.

A man of faith, Jamell is a member of local The Potter's House of North Dallas, where he attends service each Sunday with his family. Jamell is also a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

During his nearly decade tenure in the Army, Mr. Johnson has learned how to lead a team and power through with any task, even when the task at hand gets tough and uncomfortable.

Jamell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Ball State University and is currently attending Loyola University Chicago School of Law, through their distance learning program, with the ultimate goal of attaining a Juris Doctor to practice business law.

Community Driven

After years of meeting with the hard-working citizens and community leaders of the town of Little Elm, learning about their experiences and their specific needs of municipal government, he realized now was the time for him to step up and fight for his community. Jamell is proud to declare his only special interests are the honest and loving people of Little Elm, and not powerful corporations or partisan organizations.

A long time community activist and advocate for human rights, Mr. Johnson has been a part of a number of organizations and nonprofits, including the National Criminal Justice Association, Dallas Area Compliance Association, and the Baylor Youth Foundation, where he serves on the Board of Directors. Jamell also serves as the Program Chair of the Zero Debt College Project's Male Mentor Program.

On December 7th of 2021, Jamell won the Special Election Runoff to finish the remainder of the unexpired Place 1 (At-Large) term on Little Elm Town Council.

The Johnson Family

Jamell and his wife, Dominique, relocated to the town of Little Elm, Texas three years ago from their hometown of Gary, Indiana, with the hopes of finding a welcoming and safe home to start a family. Needless to say, the couple comfortably found their new home in cozy Little Elm and quickly settled in within the community. Earlier this year the two welcomed their first child, a baby boy.

In his free time, Jamell enjoys playing recreational basketball, visiting The Cove at The Lakefront, spending time on Lake Lewisville, and mentoring local youth.
